Over this last week, in southern California, we've had:
Hail
Strait Winds
Tornadoes
Flooding
Earthquakes
Landslides
Lightning/Thunder
Rainbows
And a year's worth of rain in a week's worth of time.
This morning, after a series of storms, the skies were clear and and made a postcard that lasted the time I drove to work (I was stuck inside all day and it was dark when I left). I am so thankful for where I live and work. I feel sorry for the people that take it for granted. Hopefully the view this morning helped at least one person realize how lucky they are.
As I was driving into work this morning, this was the view through my windshield. According to my parents, when I was was young and would see something similar, I would say, "Uh Oh! Clouds fall down!"
It's still an interesting phenomenon if you ask me.
I was walking though the kitchen, looking for something to take a picture of today since the ones I took earlier aren't worth posting, and these caught my eye. It has a little more contrast than I would normally like, but I think it suits the picture quite nicely.
So we just finished day 2 of the Southern California "Storm Watch 2010". The banks were closed yesterday due to MLK Day, so we had to make sure we made the deposit today, and I was lucky enough to get charged with this task. As soon as I walked out of the bank it was my lunch time. And as I walked out I caught a glimpse of a rainbow out of the corner of my eye. I ended up spending my lunch hour literally chasing rainbows, trying to shoot them with my point-and-shoot through my polarized sunglasses, while I was driving. They didn't come out as I had hoped but I saw this as I drove back down the driveway coming back to work. I guess those ugly slabs of concrete are good for something after all...
Sometimes I wonder why we don't have the same days off as the government or even the council we share the building with. In the nine hours we were open we had a total of 14 transactions. So I went out to my car and grabbed my camera and shot a co-worker.
We're puppy sitting for the night a 10 week old lab. Zeb (pictured above) was not happy when he had to be on a tie-down as Truffle slept in his bed. While I'm sure he enjoyed having a new play partner, I think he'll be happy when he could have his people and his bed back.
This is my 365 project I started January 1, 2010. Basically a photo a day from my day to day life. Thanks for checking it out and feel free to subscribe.
