Out WIth the Old, In With the New.

I finally had enough with I stepped on a screw today.  I might keep them around for painting or something...

Skywatch Friday: Mooning Temple City

Tonight the Moon is the closest it has been in something like 20 years.  Also if you take a close look at the top picture, Mars was also out in full force tonight.  Don't worry, you don't have a dead pixel in your monitor, Mars is only showing up as a tiny spec.  Pretty cool though eh?

An African Sunset.... Not

Sorry for the lame "Not" joke...

My friend and I went for a short hike up Eaton Canyon this afternoon.  We didn't make it all that far before we had to run back thanks to the fading light. But on our way back to the parking lot, as the moon shot up from behind the mountains, the clouds became more and more red.  I just thought the tree's silhouette looked like one you see in African safari pictures.

Past Midnight

On my way home from a friend's house, I felt intrigued with this view, along with a couple others.  A 60 second shutter is a really long time when you're standing in the middle of the street in the middle of the night.

An Exaggeration

The past couple weeks, with the gray, overcast/rainy weather casting a gray light on everything, and the dark gray walls of the planter, these flowers really stood out.  What better way to show this off than an exaggerated, "photoshopped" version of the image.

Twofer

A Fine Feathered Friend

As I drove into work this morning, I noticed the parking lot was rather full, and had to park down near the end.  When I got down there and saw this amazing animal, I was hoping it would let me park and pull out my camera.  I was able to squeeze a few shots off before he/she took off.  I would love to know what kind of bird of prey this was.  It didn't quite look like the Red-tailed Hawks I usually see.

*Update 1\27\10*
I stopped by the Eaton Canyon Nature Center today during lunch and found out the name of the bird.  It's a Sharp-Shinned Hawk.  I guess their eyes really are red. Pretty freaky looking.

Red Sky At Night... Sailor's Delight...

Tonight I had just finished putting away the tools after changing my oil when I turned around and saw the most amazing sunset in a long time. I ran out to the front to get some shots (I was a little worried earlier that I wasn't going to have one for today) and turned around to answer a question and saw the reflection in the window of my car.  thought it was cool so I'm using it for tonight.
