Thanks to yesterday's theme day, that I just couldn't pass up, here's Friday's skywatch.
The clouds from an incoming storm made for some interesting lighting. For example, this shot was not altered in any way. I didn't change it to monochrome in the camera, or in post processing.

Theme Day: Best Photo of 2009
Of the hundreds of photos I took over the last year, I think this is my favorite. It was an interesting experience making this image in my own backyard. We finally filled the bird feeder after a couple of weeks being empty, and the hummingbirds were so hungry they really didn't care how close I was to the feeder. Three or four hummingbirds whizzing past my head, and fighting each other for a spot at the feeder.
The photo I took today will show up tomorrow. In the meantime, check out some other people's Best of 2009 Photos.

A Driving Portrait
So I tried the portrait again I tried on Jan. 5th (view blog). This time I thought instead of having the settings on aperture priority, with a small aperture, I tried setting it to shutter priority set at a second. Tonight it came out a little better, but seeing it, there's some things I'm going to change for next time. I'm determined to get this shot.

Mobile Phone Wednesday #2: Interesting Positioning
To go along with Seattle Daily Photo's iPhone Wednesday and Pasadena Daily Photo's iPhone Wednesday's panoramic, I noticed this at work today. Without planning it that way when we created the display, and didn't noticed after it had been up for almost a year. I thought it was pretty funny how the ropes are almost the same angle as the arms giving first aid on the arm that turns into a fish.

Juxtaposition...
I know... It's a mobile picture a day early. But I thought it was too interesting not to share.
It's a little hard to see what it was I was taking a picture of. I only had a split second to compose the shot, and didn't do it well. The man walking, I'm assuming is a Buddhist Monk. Shaved head, golden-brown robe, and sandals; I think my assumption is correct, but we all know what happens when people assume. Anyway, I know there are a lot of different kinds of monks out there, even within a given religion, but this guy really caught my eye. I watched him walk out of Best Buy, walk past us singing with whatever he had playing through the earbuds hanging from his ears wearing a Quicksilver zip-up hoodie, and walk into Game Stop. Not really the first thing you think of when someone mentions they saw a monk is it?

Macro Monday #1
Pollen... This car was covered with it, and it explains why my allergies have been going crazy the past couple days. So much so, I'm going to make this one a short entry.

A Family Portrait... Of Sorts...
I signed up for a weekly news letter from Digital Photography School. It comes to my email every Thursday and will usually come with a "weekend challenge" and/or an "assignment". This week was "Show Us Your Camera". Here's my entry with "all" of my cameras including my phone. If all of my cameras are in the picture, then how did I take it? Well that's why "all" is in quotes. I have two of one of the cameras. While technically it's not all of my cameras, they're all being represented. Wish me luck with the contest.
